Matthew Cumbie Projects presents OUT & About|online
OUT & About|online is a series of engagements by Matthew Cumbie Projects, that builds on the creative body of work Growing Our Own Gardens by Matthew Cumbie, including previous events like Dancing with Pride. This particular evening featured LGBTQ+ artists talking about local LGBTQ+ history, art and activism, and dance as a practice for community building. The event was hosted by Matthew Cumbie, and included LGBTQ+ community historian Jeff Donahoe (Rainbow History Project), performance-maker and playwright Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi, choreographer Peter DiMuro, and LGBTQ+ advocate and icon Rayceen Pendarvis. These engagements convene LGBTQ+ artists, activists, advocates and historians to connect on local queer histories and community building. We acknowledge and celebrate the previous and continued support of partnering organizations like Dance Place, Dance Exchange, the Rainbow History Project, the DC Center, and the Arcus Foundation.
